HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – an over ten day’s custodial ordeal for Abdirizaq Saeed Ayanle has ended just as it begun, without explanations.
Ayanle who is the clerk (Secretary) to the Somaliland House of Representatives was detained almost a fortnight ago by police in the capital Hargeisa without any reasons given.
A subsequent in-camera appearance at the Hargeisa regional court that ensued with orders for his placement in remand did not also divulge reasons behind neither the arrest nor the arraignment in court.
Though his arrest saga came in the heels of a now aborted move to table a motion of no confidence in house speaker Abdirahman Irro by ruling party Kulmiye lawmakers his release also follows in the heels of conflict resolution reached buy elders from Guurti that saw the motion discarded.
Despite lack of official reasons behind the Ayanle arrest ordeal, it is believed that it pertained to alleged doctoring of the Voters registration bill forwarded to Guurti upon approval by the House of Representatives subsequently leading to the aborted no confidence motion.
