CARDIFF (Somalilandsun) – The UK Minister for Africa Mark Simmonds says he is fascinated by British Somalilanders.
The minister tweeted his fascination following a meeting with Community Representatives of British Somalilanders in the city Welsh city of Cardiff organized by local Member of Parliament Hon S Doughty.
During the Cardiff meeting Mark Simmonds and the Brit-Landers engaged in discussions on various issues like on Diaspora investment, Educational links, Relationship between Somaliland and Somalia as well as on the forthcoming Somalia conference to be held in London on the 7th May 2013.
The meeting was in part a celebration of the relationship and links that prevail between Wales and Somaliland.
According to tweets by MP S Doughty who hosted the meeting t, “it was good to welcome Africa Minister Mark Simmonds to Cardiff for dialogue with Somaliland community reps”
While no official statement has been released on the meeting sources indicate that the Somaliland community representatives clearly indicated to the UK minister their support for Somaliland’s boycott of the Somalia conference and imperative need for their country’s international recognition as a sovereign nation.
The two British leaders also held side-line discussions with the visiting Speaker of the Somaliland parliament Abdirahman Irro.
