Somaliland: The President H.E. Ahmed Mohammed Mohamud Silanyo received the outgoing UN Secretary General’s representative to SL and Somalia Mr. Nicholas Kay who paid him a courtesy call of farewell at the Presidency yesterday.
The President was flanked by the Vice President H.E. AbdirahmanAbdillahi Ismael Saili’i and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Dr. Sa’ad Ali Shire. Also present was the Presidency Spokesman Eng. Hussein A. Egge.
The FM pointed out that the President and Mr. Kay had their conversations dwelling mainly on the ways and means of fortifying and bolstering the bilateral relations with the UN, the SL Somalia talks and the upcoming Presidential and parliamentary elections.
On his part, the outgoing official who was flanked with almost a half a dozen officials thanked the government and people of Somaliland for their hospitality and their un-fledgling support for the United Nations organization.
He called upon Somalilanders to make a great success the forthcoming general elections.
Meanwhile, in a hectic busy day for the President, a several hours meeting was held with the NEC and the security institutions’ heads. (See the lead story in this issue).
In recent times the President has had busy schedules.
He visited the ailing grand veteran politician cum peace maker Hon. Abdikarim Haji Abdi at his home and facilitated specialized media treatment for him abroad over the week. (See story elsewhere in this issue). He also met the SONYO association over the week apart from having several busy engagements.
