BALIGUBADLE (Somalilandsun) – Three people are in police custody after they were arrested in possession of alcoholic beverages.
According to the Reporter Hussein Harbi maantasomaliland Ahmed Mohamed Awale the arrest effect by a unit under the personal command of the Hawd regional police officer-in-charge Major Abdi Shuguh ensued at Habaswein Village after an hour long chase.
The three who were caught red handed with 45 bottles of assorted alcoholic beverages being smuggled from neighboring Ethiopia are currently in detention at an undisclosed police station in Hargeisa pending their immediate arraignment in court.
The smugglers vehicle a Mark II plate #33160 which was confisticated during the arrest is most likely to become the property of the government.
In Somaliland where Islam is the main religion alcohol is stipulated as an illegal substance thus a legally punishable crime for its sale or consumption.
