In order to answer these questions, let us put the right perspective on the situation.
The people and the government of Somaliland received a wonderful accolade from the city of Sheffield and its inhabitants. It is a tremendous tribute to our enduring successes and abiding fortitude. Twenty two years of peace, stability, and development have brought us to this stunning and symbolic victory.
This is but another step in our journey for de-jure international recognition and the people of Somaliland will not rest on their laurels.
With respect to Speaker Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi’s attendance, or lack thereof, of the subsequent celebrations; this did not diminish the magnitude of the occasion nor does his stature.
Because, the Speaker, understands that the real driving forces behind this historic occasion where the ordinary people of Somaliland in Sheffield. That is the manner, style and stature, that make Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi “Irro”, a statesman and a leader.
