The conference presented an opportunity for the Ministers to meet with influential political leaders, scholars and experts. The Ministers also met with the Malaysian Minister of Education and a number of senior political officials. It is hoped that the meeting will allow for Somaliland to improve its relations with Malaysia, and could also give rise to scholarships, training or other benefits.
The World Muslim Leadership Forum (WMLF) was established in 2010 to focus on the importance of leadership in the Muslim world, and to build bridges of communication between the Muslim world and the West.
