Somaliland sun – Exhaust fumes from diesel engines do cause cancer, a panel of experts working for the World Health Organization says.

IARC has now labelled exhausts as a definite cause of cancer, although it does not compare how risky different carcinogens are. Diesel exhausts are now in the same group as carcinogens ranging from wood chippings to plutonium and sunlight to alcohol.
This has not deterred European firms especially Swiss based of links to the African trade in diesel with toxin levels that are illegal in Europe, more so a sulphuric quantity 300 times more than standards.
According to three-year investigation published by Switzerland-based environmental and economic group Public Eye though not accusing european oil companies of breaking any laws, charged several firms with using an “illegitimate strategy” to boost profits, hawking so-called “African quality” fuels that have had devastating health and environmental impacts across many sub-Saharan states.

Although not part of the report, according to data shared with the Guardian by Public Eye, the British oil company BP also shipped high-sulphur diesel to Ghana.
While sub-Saharan Africa includes major oil producers like Angola and Nigeria, limited refining capacity on the continent means that most African oil is sold as crude on the international market, thence the import from of the dirty dregs of fuel from Europe
By selling such fuels at the pump in Africa, the traders increase outdoor air pollution, causing respiratory disease and premature death,” said the report from Public Eye, a group previously known as the Bern Declaration and founded in 1968.
After testing fuel sold in Angola, Benin, Congo-Brazzaville, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mali, Senegal and Zambia, Public Eye which found Swiss commodity traders Vitol and Trafigura , guilty of exploiting weak African fuel standards by selling toxic diesel and gasoline across the continent, also called on African governments “to set stringent fuel quality standards” in line with European levels, arguing that was the most effective way to crack down on toxic blends.
In the meantime Trafigura Group reports healthy profit and margins and strong volume growth in oil for the period ended 31 March 2016, as Bloomberg exposes how the publicity-shy energy Vitol, World’s Largest Oil Trader hasn’t seen an annual loss n its 50-year history thus making billions in process.
Having been certified exhausts from dirty fuel are definitely a cause of lung cancer and may also cause tumours in the bladder, Africans are now surely aware of whom to blame for increased carcinogens ailments, weak corrupt governments and unscrupulous European firms. 
For Somaliland, whose 25 years quest for recognition as a sovereign nation by the international community the situation though undocumented is dire for the current administration having dissolve the 90 years contract with Total , and without mechanism for quality control, unregulated fuel imports mostly dirty is the norm.
