Somalilandsun- The Political Leadership in Somaliland is unanimous to the fact that ongoing and fast paced changes in the Horn of Africa shall affect this country.
Though they are unanimous in concurrence to this fact, they also differ on whether the effect shall be positive or negative.
Divergence on opinion revolves Some believe that the changes shall affect

Will ongoing changes in the Horn of Africa being Instigated by the Ethiopian Premiere Dr Abuy Ahmed have any impact in Somaliland.
Dr Saad Ali Shire
Somaliland foreign minister Dr Saad Ali Shire believes that “any changes Good or bad taking place in the Horn of Africa region impacts on Somaliland”
The foreign minister who stated the above during an interview with Geeska Afrika newspaper in Hargeisa added that “since the changes are inevitable we pray that they be positive to Somaliland” more so as pertains economic and political cooperation as well ensuring sustainable security fronted by peaceful reconciliation among neighbouring Nations.
Abdirahman Irro
On his part the leader of Wadani Somaliland’s main Opposition political party Abdirahman Irro a diplomat turned politician, “it is very important for Somaliland to keep not only abreast but actively engage in ongoing changes in the region driven by Ethiopia since impact at home is.a forgone conclusion.
Dr Mohamed Saeed Gees
Another foreign policy expat Dr Mohamed Saeed Gees is unequivocally sure that Somaliland can not afford to act as a self sustaining island in the Horn region.
In a recent paper Dr Gees who served the administration’s of presidents Egal and Rayale as minister Said, “by the end of 2018 changes taking place in the Horn of Africa shall be felt, considering that they have been imitated by Ethiopia which is the biggest , most populous, and economically mid giant in the Horn region where it borders seven countries.
Adding that “these changes shall have impact on all its neighbours which includes Somaliland”.
“If Ethiopia sneezes neighbouring countries are affected” Said Dr Gees adding that unless Somaliland wants to remain in the doldrums it should join the Dr Abiy Ahmed changes bandwagon.

Eng Feisal Ali Warabe
According to leader of Opposition party UCID, Eng Feisal Ali Warabe changes taking place in the Horn of Africa come at a very apt moment and moving in the right direction,
Stating that these changes shall impact Somaliland as a matter of fact, the politician went on to stress, that “since Somaliland is part and parcel of the Horn region it is important that we move in tandem with our neighbours.
Similarly Eng Feisal urged Somalilanders both at home and abroad to act in a united fronted thence avail their country a forceful voice in regional affairs
Ismail Buuba
As per Politician Ismail Mahmoud Hurre ‘Buuba’ a former somalia minister of foreign affairs and currently senior Opposition Wadani Party Member, Somaliland can not afford missing at the table of changes in the Horn.
“Any country missing out in the fast paced changes taking place in the Horn, is tantamount to colossal failure, thence imperative that Somaliland be at the forefront”
It is therefore Conclusively unanimous that Somaliland shall be affected one way or another and sooner by trends in the Horn region though it appears that the administration of President Muse Bihi Abdi seems to be uninterested thence not sitting at the DIAS officiated by PM Abiy of Ethiopia.
