Somaliland VP Distances himself for Woes of Zeila Council Woes

Somalilandsun-The VP H.E. Abdirahman Abdillahi Ismael Seyli’i has distanced and absolved himself from the woes of the Zeila councilors who are currently in the town’s police cells hence have defied release, in protest.

The VP was giving his sentiments to members of the press at Egal International Airport upon returning from a brief private visit to Djiouti.
“Leaders are prone to be maligned and we ought to brave it”, said the VP in answer to reports that he was behind the woes of the civic leaders.
According to our sister paper Dawan, the councilors were released by the police on Friday and they refused to leave the station.
The Selel regional governor Ahmed Nasir Mohammed Hashisaid that the administration was not deterring them but it is they (the councilors) who have refused to be set free or leave the police station.
Their woes started when they impeached incumbent mayor Hussein Eidle and voted for another hence the administration has not accepted the move terming it improper.
According to the report, they then protested at the council’s offices hence were subsequently rounded up by the police.
The governor said that the ministry had directed for their release and are sending a top notch delegation to delve into the matter.
On the other hand the VP said that he met with Djibouti President Ismael Omar Gelle and also the Somaliland Diaspora in the country.
He said they discussed on the bilateral relations of both countries, noting that the host country had eked in relief support for Somalilanders in their hour of need during the severe drought.
