LONDON (Somalilandsun) – The president H.E Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo has departed the Turkish capital Ankara for the English capital of London from where he is expected to fly out to Washington DC in North America.
President Silanyo and the broad based delegation he is leading are currently ensconced at a London hotel having left Turkey to an official send-off by the deputy premiere Ali Babacan at the Istanbul international airport.
Addressing the president Silanyo led team at the airport The Turkish deputy premiere said his country hopes not only to maintain but strengthen the generational friendly relationship that exists between the two states.
On his part the president on his behalf, that of his delegation and people of Somaliland thanked the Turkish government for its hosting of the successful meeting with Somalia whose results is enhanced understanding and relations between the governments and people of the two Horn of Africa countries.
The Somaliland delegation was in Turkey for tripartite talks with Somalia hosted by the Turkish authorities at the Ankara offices of President Abdulla Gül that ensued with the signing of the seven points Ankara Communique.
According to the minister of foreign affairs Dr Mohamed Abdilahi Omar the president shall before departing for Washington DC hold discussion meetings with British Somalilanders and others from various European countries.
If the trip to Washington DC comes to fruition it shall be as a result of an official invitation extended president Silanyo by the US Envoy in Kenya Ambassador Godec during a meeting in Nairobi on February 7th 2012 while the Somaliland head of state was En-route to London for a meeting with UK government officials. http://somalilandsun.com/index.php/world/2259
