GAROWE (Somalilandsun) – Tension are high at the Somalia regional administration of Puntland in Garowe between president Abdiweli Gaas and his Deputy Abdihakim Omar Amay.
According to reports the two Somalia regional administrators who are not in tandem on financial matters translated their differences to the physical with Gaas punching his deputy several times on the face and stomach at the Garowe state lodge on Monday.
The administrators cum combatants just assumed office earlier this year through selection by parliament’s 62 members.
The punch up is said to have been a result of missing funds meant for civil servants salary payment that Amay withdrew from the administration’s account in Garowe but whereabouts unknown.
Amay who is original from Somaliland but owes allegiance to the Somalia federal Government is said to have used his capacity as acting president while his Gaas was in Ethiopia attending the Tana forum to withdraw the money.
To date the unfortunate civil servants remain unpaid as their deputy president upon withdrawing the paycheck is said to have dispatched to cahoots in Sool region of Somaliland where Khatumoists secessionists led by Somalia MP Ali Khalif Galayd are drumming up support for a Khatumo III conference.
Amay is said to be disillusioned with the failure of Gaas to annex parts of Somaliland as pledged during his election campaign late in 2013 following a massive show of power by the Somaliland government.
