Somalilandsun- I hope you will continue to serve the nation as you did during your tenure as leader of the Somaliland legislature.
This was said by President Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo during a meeting with Outgoing speaker of the Somaliland parliament Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi ‘Irro’ who visited the head of state at the presidency immediately he tendered his resignation at parliament buildings.
The now solely Opposition party Wadani presidential candidate also took time to meet with First Lady Amina Weris during his farewell visit to the presidency
Irro who served as speaker of the House of Representatives the country’s Lower chamber of parliament for over 11 years resigned earlier in the day in pursuant of constitutional dictates that stipulate a public officer holder standing for election has to relinquish his post.

Abdirahman Irro is contesting for the Somaliland presidency on Wadani party ticket in elections slated for the 13th November 2017. Others vying for the same are Muse Behi of ruling Kulmiye party and Eng Feisal Ali Warabe of opposition UCID party.
