Somalilandsun: A number of citizens receiving treatment at the Hargeisa Group Hospital-HGH received commiserations from top Somaliland government officials.
Those visited are receiving treatment at the main public hospital from injuries sustained after supporters clashed at the Hargeisa Stadium during the just concluded Somaliland regional sports tournament 2020.
This was revealed by a press statement released by the presidential spokesperson that read
The Government officials led by Director General of the Somaliland Presidency, Mr. Mohamed Ali Bile, the Minister of Health Omar Ali Abdilahi, his DG Mohamed Abdi Hergeye, the Deputy Governor of Marodi-jeex Region Khadar Barud and Clerk to Hargeisa Municipality Ahmed Yonis Aden (Juha) among other.
The officials who were chaperoned by HGH administrators and medics visited the victims of the violence one by one and witnessed first-hand the efforts of the hospital’s staff in rescuing the victims.
The Director General of the Presidency, Mr. Mohamed Ali Bile, who addressed the gathering, commended the officials of the Ministry of Health, the hospital and the doctors in charge of the victims for their efforts in rescuing the victims, most of whom have recovered from their injuries.
The Minister of Health, Mr. Omar Ali Abdilahi, who briefed on the condition of the patients and the services, provided at the hospital, said, “We have looked into the injuries. “As a result of the riots on the day of the game, the total number of people admitted to the hospital was 24, while four people who underwent successful surgeries overnight were discharged from the hospital and all were provided with prompt and efficient service.”
In addition, the officials inspected various departments of Hargeisa General Hospital with the addition of modern wards and buildings, equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for inpatients.
