HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – A police officer in the prime of life is battling for survival at the Hargeisa group hospital in the Somaliland capital.
This follows a brutal attack which resulted in the death of his colleague who was shot several times while serving a court warrant a the 26th June estate in Hargeisa.
The late Mahmud Atoosh an officer attached to the Kodbuur police station in Hargeisa died after a person he and his injured colleague were serving a court warrant to, snatched a gun from the deceased and shot both of them at a house in the 26thv June district.
After the grisly incident the perpetrator who managed to escape from the scene of crime was captured in the even9ng of the fateful day and is currently awaiting court appearance for both the original crime in which he was being served the warrant with and the murder and injury of police officers.
The tough talking Somaliland police commissioner Brigadier Abdilahi Fadal Iman who recently promised to use an iron fist against criminals is yet to issue a statement on the saga.
