HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – Citizens can now contact the police through special emergency hotline numbers as revealed by police commissioner Brigadier General Abdilahi Fadal Iman through a press statement in which he also urged citizens to misuse the emergency hotline numbers thus not encumber the police force with unnecessary issues.
The landline emergency hotline numbers are:
Telesom: 520172 & 520257
Somtel: 7923169 & 7923170
Gen Fadal also informed that all traffic movement has been partial banned during the hours those celebrations commemorating the 22nd Re-independence Anniversary of Somaliland on 18th May 2013.
This is a partial ban because traffic police will only allow movement to vehicles with special permits issued by the relevant authorities nationwide.
As he urged citizens to commemorate the auspices day in a peaceful conduct the police commissioner he revealed that all security apparatus have been placed on full alert thus require cooperation from landers every.
Meanwhile the police commissioner did not indicate if the hotline numbers shall be effective only during the 22nd Independence anniversary celebrations or they are permanent
While having the emergency hotline numbers is a very good move that is also timely the big question is why have the hotline lines established for Hargeisa only?
