HARGEISA (Somaliland sun) – jostling for ruling Kulmiye party nomination as vice president candidate in forthcoming elections is heating up.
As the date nears for the much talked about ruling party Central committee meeting in which presidential and vice president aspirants shall be elected attention has turned from the tussle for top office to that of the deputy.
Accordingly at a recent function in Hargeisa the heath minister Dr Suleiman Isse Haglatosie declared ambitions to vie to for the office of Somaliland vice president on a Kulmiye party thus joining the likes of sitting holder Abdirahman Abdilahi Sayli, education minister prof Gedoole and clerk to parliament’s upper chamber of Guurti Abdilahi Mohamed Habane.
Ironically Hasan Dahir Dimbiil the deputy health minister is also a candidate for the post his post his boss Haglatosie is contesting during the ruling party’s central committee meeting to be held in Hargeisa on the 11th November 2015.
During his declaration at Ambassador Hotel in Hargeisa the health minister said “in pursuit of strengthening the unity of Somaliland I believe that holding office of Somaliland vice president will be the proper vehicle thence my intent to contest nomination in Kulmiye”
While castigating a few political washouts that are roaming Sool and east Sanaag regions trying to incite insecurity Dr Haglatosie said that their activities were in futility as residents of the two areas have embraced peace and are now in pursuit of full participation in national issues.
“let all and sundry know that forthcoming presidential and parliamentary elections slated for march 2017 shall be held fully in Buhoolde and other areas of Sool and east Sanaag regions where they never occurred before” said the health minister
Dr Haglatosie the former Sool Sanaag and Cayn(Ain) SSC militia commander is credited with prevailing peace in Buhoolde and Sool following the peaceful reconciliation dubbed Buhoolde accord he co-signed with president Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo in 2012.
With attention turning to the contest for Vice president candidate nominee of the ruling Kulmiye party the public has taken a respite from the biting battle for the top job pitting party chair Muse Behi, former finance minister Abdiaziz Samale , foreign minister Mohamed Behi and MP Ahmed Abdinour kijande
Though we at Somalilandsun are not aligned to any party our vote goes to Dr Suleiman Isse Haglatosie
