SOUTHWAK (Somalilandsun) – Contesting on a labour party ticket Councillor Abdulla Mohamed has won the right to wear the Southwark Borough Mayor’s chain.
The in-coming mayor is a Briton-Somalilander who has apart from working tirelessly for Somalians in the British Diaspora is also reckoned with for regular engagement with his native homeland of Somaliland which he has promised to continue supporting.
During a party celebrating his win the Cllr Mohamed revealed that he intends to see to it that his tenure at the Southwark mayor’s office results in the Borough twinning with one of Somaliland’s local councils.
According to Abdi Glob Gracing the mayor’s victory ceremony which took place on 22nd May was the UK visiting vice-president of Somaliland Hon Abdirahman Sayli, UK Somaliland chamber of commerce,UK head of mission and Somaliland community members in whose support the new mayor owes his victory.
