TURKU (Somalilandsun)-The Minister of Health Hon. Suleiman Isse Haglatosie met with the SL Diaspora at Turku, in Finland on Friday night and gave them an up to date roundup of the country’s situation.Turku happens to be the European ancient town whose Mayor became the first one ever to visit Somaliland.
The Minister who was accompanied by Hargeisa Group Hospital’s CEO Dr. Ahmed Omar Askar is in that country for an official visit.
The minister had earlier on upon his departure revealed that he had engaged in talks with both the Finnish government and the UN’s IOM for supplementing capacity building in the health sector’s workforce, specifically in aiding advance courses and catering for remuneration of the specialized staff.
He thanked the Diaspora community, especially those in Turku for their steadfast support to their home country.
He particularly expressed his profound admiration for the area Diaspora members whose professionals in health affairs immensely made commendable contributions to the country.
The minister gave a review of the developments the government gradually made in rebuilding various areas of state institutions, and outlined vividly the health sector’s expansion over the years to the present status quo.
Others who graced the meeting are IOM (MIDA) coordinator Said Guleid, Dr. Ali Omar, Finish SL Diaspora Chairman Hassan-Ali Sadehle and his Turku city repetitive Abdillahi Hassan.
The minister is drumming up support for the beefing up of the health sector to serve well the needy population.
