HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – Vehicle owners can now pay for the 2016 road tax at any ministry of finance offices nationwide.
This was informed by the Finance minister Zamzam Abdi Aden in Hargeisa during a media briefing in her offices where she also revealed that the technical hitches resulting in cessation of road tax issuance have been solved.
Since mid 2015 when the government digitalized road taxation vehicle owners have had an ease in securing their stickers for payment of either 6 or twelve months at any Office of responsible agency nationwide.
While acknowledging that technical issues were responsible for the mishap that saw applicants for 2016 road tax stickers encounter delays, minister Zamzam pledge to ensure that technicians responsible at her ministry are kept abreast with maintenances updates from system manufacturers.
Digitalization of road taxation that replaced the haphazard earlier one used by the ministry is also of major assistance to the traffic police that is privy to any data entered as pertains payment of road tax thence defaulters as well, eliminating the need to impound a vehicle until such is ascertained.
In conclusion Finance minister Zamzam Abdi Aden who said that any tax the state collects is used to provide public services also reiterated her call to all citizens to pay any related taxes due to the administration both national and local.
