HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – Berlin shall be the next venue for the country’s second international Trade and investment conference
This was revealed through a press statement released by the Somaliland ministry of Trade and Investment (translated by somalilandsun ) that read
Quote- On 1st May 2016 the minsistry of trade and investment, ministry of foreign affairs and international cooperation together with the Chamber of Commerce and industry have agreed to hold the second Somaliland international investment conference in the Germany city of Berlin on the 6th June 2016.
In pursuit of enhancing on foreign investment achievements garnere at the UK Somaliland Trade and Investment Conference held in London on the 24th October 2014 the forthcoming Berlin hosted Germany_ Somaliland Trade and Investment Conference shall focus on enlightening particpants on the multi-sectored commercial opportunities avalable in the country
The specific objectives the Republic of Somaliland takes to the Berlin Conference are:
1. To display the natural wealth of the country more so in the sectors of Livestock, Agricluture,, Fishery, Minerals –Gemstones, Oil, Frankincense, Cement, Salt and Tourism among others.
2. Guidelines and laws for foreign investments by companies, public agencies or individuals.
3. Provide a networking platform between local bussinesses and German counterparts and
4. Promotion of joint Commercial ventures between Somaliland and German investors
While the objectives are initially based on attracting foreign investment the government of the Republic of Somaliland concerned by the excerbating brain drainage occassioned by ilegal immigration and related ills has creation of employment opprtinies as ultimate outcome.
To this effect the the minsistry of trade and investment, ministry of foreign affairs and international cooperation and the national Chamber of Commerce and industry hereby jointly encourage and urge local bussinesses to take advantage of this important opportunity and fully participate at the German Somaliland Trade and Investment Conferenc to beld in Berlin on 6th June 2016.-Unquote
