Fighting in Galkayo Somalia has so far displaced over 50000

Somaliland sun-As Intermittent fighting in Galkayo between Puntland and Galmudug, two regional administrations of Somalia continues humanitarian partners estimate that over 50,000 people have been displaced as of 13 October 2016.
Though Humanitarian partners are providing life-saving assistance to displaced people in the outskirts of Gaalkacyo. Shelter, WASH, food, protection and health which are priority needs, the fighting has led to constraints on the humanitarian activities in the town due to staff safety and security concerns reports the UN office for the coordination of Humanitarian affairs-OCHA in Somalia.
“The situation is dire as the flow of commercial and humanitarian supplies and services between Galgaduud and Mudug regions has been disrupted since Galkayo provides the access network to central regions such as Hiraan, Galgaduud and South Mudug for commodities from the port of Bossaso” reports OCHA In its first Flash Update Humanitarian impact of fighting in Galkayo .
