Somalilandsun: Somalia’s amnesty program allows former Shabab members to surrender without prosecution and according to journalist Michelle Shepherd the Shabab’s popularity waning, hundreds of local Somali combatants have left and are now being housed and counselled in “disengagement” camps in the capital and throughout the country.
In a piece for The National Reporter the only journalist to enter the secret camp in Somalia reveals that there are currently about 500 former Somali Shabab members being held at the rehab base in Mogadishu.
