DECATUR, Alabama – A Somalia citizen living here legally was arrested Wednesday for exposing himself to a group of juveniles, Decatur police said in a news release.

Omar Haile Ali, 30, of Somalia was arrested Wednesday on two count of indecent exposure and single counts of harassment and resisting arrest, the new release said. More charges are possible, police said. Ali is in Decatur City Jail.

Police notified the federal Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement of Ali’s arrest. The agency placed a hold on Ali pending a hearing, police said.

Police said that officers Shawn Hudson and Jason Wigginton were on patrol in the area of Glenn Street and Omalley Avenue Southwest when they were flagged down by a group of juveniles.

The juveniles told police that a man had been exposing himself to them. A parent told police that she had witnessed the incident, police said.

The witnesses told police that the man was last seen at 1802 Omalley Ave. Police found Ali in an apartment at the address and the witnesses identified him as the man who had exposed himself, police said.
