Somalilandsun – This column takes the opportunity to thank the Head of State H.E. Ahmed Mohammed Mahmud for having made the media fraternity sigh with relief of heartfelt gratitude by giving respite to the hitherto banned local Hubaal newspaper for new lease of life.
We in the same breath thank the President for extending amnesty to both heads of the said papers.
What happened is something all scribes whether correspondents or editing managers would humbly cherish.
As we laud the President for the thoughtful and bold steps he took, we likewise call to order all media fraternity and stakeholders in general to be responsible in all the senses of the word.
Talking of toeing the etiquettes lines, this column has, for the best part of a whole decade, monotonously been singing the words of upholding diligence.
Apart from having our main tasks being fast and swiftly keeping the public with tabs of happenings as they unfold, we are indebted in and to infotainment also just as to educating the members of the public.
Whatever the tasks, ours ought to be corroborated, verified and confirmed hence carrying the views of all sides concerned in one articulated piece of an item.
We know just too well that the culture of partisan, irresponsible and malice-filled reporting is an embedded trend in the country.
